Preparing GAIA for dissemination, replication and market readiness


GAIA has entered its final project phase, focused on optimisation, dissemination, business sustainability and replication.

The technical work now builds on the deployment evidence collected during the second cycle. The team is refining the user interface, improving the explanation of AI recommendations, consolidating data-quality workflows and preparing final technical documentation. The objective is to present GAIA as a complete and qualified pilot system, supported by operational evidence from the GGS almond plantation.

The final phase will also increase communication with external stakeholders. Planned activities include website updates, social media communication, case-study material, stakeholder outreach and an Open Day involving farmers, advisors, cooperatives, AKIS actors, agritech stakeholders and other interested participants.

GAIA’s business sustainability work will focus on a clear first market position: irrigation and field-condition decision support for almond and comparable permanent crops. This focused positioning reflects the pilot experience. Rather than presenting GAIA as a broad generic smart-farming platform, the project will emphasise its practical value in helping farmers combine sensor data, weather, Earth Observation and AI recommendations in one workflow.

The replication material will address how comparable farms can adopt a similar approach using existing sensors, cloud/edge deployment, standard interfaces and Farmtopia-aligned interoperability.

The final objective is to transform the pilot experience into a credible pathway for post-project use, stakeholder engagement and broader adoption.
